Men's soccer drops game 4-1 to Southern Union State

Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's soccer team kept it close in the beginning of the game but ultimately lost to visiting Southern Union State Community College 4-1.

Both teams fought hard and played evenly in the first half, ending with a 0-0 tie. Freshman goalkeeper Chris Do made some difficult saves to keep the Bison off the scoreboard.

Early in the first half, Southern Union scored to break the tie. However, a minute later sophomore Minghan Cui put the Eagles on the board to tie the game back up. Sophomore Nathan Parsons assisted on the goal.

The Bison scored two quick goals midway through the second half. Emory Oxford continued to try to apply pressure to score again, but the team was unable to find the back of the net. Southern Union scored once more with a second remaining on the clock to secure the win.

Do made 10 saves in goal as the Eagles dropped to 4-7-1. The Bison are now 8-4-1.

Emory Oxford takes on Fisk University at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 for sophomore night at home.
