Oxford Tennis Concludes Fall Play Against Wallace State

OXFORD, GA – Both the Oxford Men and Women's Tennis team wrapped up fall competition by defeating Wallace State Community College this past Saturday. Both teams won 6-3. 

Starting with Women's doubles, freshmen Victoria Jones and Cody Lu topped their opponents 6-0, 7-5. 

In Women's singles, Jones posted a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory over her opponent. Lu had a great performance winning 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Preethi Dharmavarapu had a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 victory. Fellow sophomore Joyce Min won 6-2, 6-0 and freshman Jenna Shin won 7-5, 6-2. 

On the Men's side starting with doubles, sophomores Julian McCarthy and Tate Coston defeated their opponents 8-6. Fellow teammates Kevin Yan and David George won their match 8-5. 

In Men's singles, McCarthy opened with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over his opponent. Coston won his match 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Freshman Kavi Jain had an impressive 6-3, 6-1 victory and Yan pulled out a 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory to round up the Men's side. 

The Men's team will return to action in the spring, as they will begin their quest for another national championship. The Women's team will be competing in the NJCAA National Championship next weekend, November 2nd - 4th in Peachtree City, GA.
