Men's Tennis Competes In Mississippi

Meridian, MS - The Emory Oxford men's tennis team completed their first day of competition in Mississippi against Jones College and Hinds Community College.

In their morning match, the Eagles were defeated by Jones 8-1. The lone win came from sophomore Kavi Jain who won first singles 6-4, 7-6 (9-7). 

Later that afternoon, the Eagles picked up their first win of the season defeating Hinds 7-2. Oxford picked up two doubles matches with sophomore Kevin Yan and freshman Michael Ru winning second doubles 8-5. In third doubles, sophomore Dominick Garcia and freshman Jeremy Cai picked up a 8-6 victory. In singles play, the Eagles picked up 5 wins with Jain winning first singles again 6-3, 6-3. Yan and Ru picked up wins in second and third singles with Yan winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 and Ru picking up a default win. Cai had a fifth singles victory with a score of 1-6, 6-0, 10-3. Freshman Colin Xu won 6-3, 6-2 to claim sixth singles. 

"Our guys showed a lot of determination in the second match and picked up our first win of the season," commented Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. 

The 1-2 Eagles will play Meridian Community College tomorrow at 9:00AM.
