Men's Tennis Picks Up Road Win Against Piedmont

Demorest, GA - The Emory Oxford men's tennis team defeated Piedmont College 7-2, on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Piedmont. The Eagles improve to 3-3 for the season.

The Eagles picked up two wins in doubles play winning second and third doubles. Freshmen Michael Ru and Jeremy Cai won second doubles 8-6, while freshman Bryce Guenther and sophomore Kavi Jain won third doubles 8-5. 

Oxford was dominant singles play winning five matches. Jain picked a a first singles victory 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Kevin Yan won in second singles, winning 6-0, 6-2. Ru claimed third singles 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Cai won in fifth singles, with a 0-6, 7-5, 10-7 decision. Freshman Colin Xu picked up a sixth singles victory 6-4, 6-2. 

"Our guys competed well today in what turned out to a beautiful day for tennis. We won some tough matches in singles play, which was great for us moving forward," stated Pernilla Hardin, Head Coach. 

The Eagles will return to action at home on Friday (Feb. 28) against Morehouse College. Matches begin at 4:00PM.
