Men's Tennis Dominates in Home Victory

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Emory Oxford men's tennis team won their home opener against Gadsden State Community College 9-0. The Eagles grabbed their first win of the season.

By default, Emory Oxford won third doubles and sixth singles due to Gadsden not having enough players. In doubles play, sophomore Frank Lu and freshman Tyler Yamato-Chang claimed an 8-0 victory on court one. On court two, first-years Zachary Ravel and Jahaan Sachdeva defeated their opponents 8-2.

In singles play, the Eagles claimed all five wins in straight sets, only giving up a total of ten games in five games. Ravel won first singles 6-2, 6-2, while doubles teammate Sachdeva won 6-1, 6-3 on court four. Yamato-Chang claimed second singles 6-0, 6-2 and his doubles teammate, Lu, had an impressive win 6-0, 6-0 on court three. Freshman Alexander Szymanski, who won all of his singles matches in Mississippi last weekend, defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0 on court five.

"The boys played well today," commented Coach Pernilla Hardin. "We did a better job of getting to the net in doubles today."

Up next, the Eagles will play LaGrange College on Friday (Feb. 18). Matches are set to begin at 3:00 PM.
