Jonathan Bennett named men's and women's tennis coach

Oxford College of Emory University Athletic Director, Roderick Stubbs, has announced that Jonathan Bennett will be the next head coach of the men's and women's tennis program.

Bennett hails from New Zealand, and has been playing tennis for nearly his entire life. While in New Zealand, he played juniors successfully at the national level.

"I am excited to commence the position of head tennis coach at Oxford College of Emory University," Bennett said. "Over the past eight years of living in Oxford with my family, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the illustrious success of Coach Pernilla Hardin and her Oxford College tennis teams. Her passing leaves a great hole within Oxford College and the wider community. I feel honored and humbled to follow her inspirational coaching style and legacy."

Bennett has coached high school students in America and New Zealand to division I and division II colleges. In addition to coaching tennis, he also holds several tennis certifications, including ones from the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA).

He earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Human Resources at the University of Auckland and received his masters in management from the same university.

Bennett lives in Oxford with his wife, Dr. Tasha Dobbin-Bennett, professor in art history, and their two sons.

"We are excited to welcome Jonathan as our new head men's and women's tennis coach/instructor," Stubbs said. "Jonathan's passion, expertise, and dedication for the sport of tennis will bring about an exciting new chapter for our players and championship program."
