Cross Country Competes in Coach Gary Wilson Invitational

The Oxford College of Emory University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the University of West Georgia in Carrollton to compete in the Coach Gary Wilson Invitational over the weekend. The event featured primarily NCAA Division II competition.

The women's team, which is ranked no. 2 in the nation for NJCAA Division III Women's Cross Country, finished 4th in the meet's 5k event.

Sophomore Sophia Lee finished 19th overall with a time of 21:13 to lead the Eagles. Freshman Halle Wulff ran a 21:23 to place 22nd, with classmate Nancy Puente following closely behind at 21:30. Fellow freshman Madeleine Lepley finished with a time of 22:48, and sophomore Urvi Vallapareddy ran a 23:56.

The men's team finished 5th in the standings for the 8k race. Freshman Timothy Park finished 17th with a time of 29:07. Another freshman, Jacob Hillman, ran a 29:38 to finish 21st. Hillman was followed by sophomores Alex Lucas and Darren Ni who finished 22nd and 23rd respectively, both clocking in at 29:56.

A trio of sophomores, Andrew Johnson (32:27), Yonah Temlock (34:51), and Benjamin Fargnoli (38:33), also contributed for the Eagles. 

Both teams will be back in action next weekend to compete at the Alexander/Asics Invitational.
