Bazata Set to Compete at Nationals

Championship Central

Freshman Julia Bazata of the Emory Oxford Women's Golf team will be competing in the 2022 NJCAA DIII Women's Golf Championship. This will be the first-ever Division III Women's Golf Championship for the NJCAA. The previous years have been nondivisional. Jamestown Community College will host the four-day event at Chautauqua Golf Course in New York from June 7-10.

Bazata is from New Canaan, CT and has competed in two events this year for the Eagles, including a top-10 finish at the Bruins Golf Classic back in the fall. She will be the first women's golfer to compete at nationals since 2017.

"We're excited to be a part of the first-ever Division III Women's Golf National Championship," commented Coach Molly McNamara. "A benefit to the tournament being the last NJCAA Championship of the year is Julia has been able to have more time to focus on golf since the semester has finished up. I know she has the ability to compete at a high level and we are excited to get to New York and see her compete."
