Women's Soccer Loses to Georgia Military

The Emory Oxford women's soccer team faced off against NJCAA Division I foe, Georgia Military College. The Eagles lost 7-3 at home against the Bulldogs. 

Sophomore Doreen Chigozie Okeh led the Eagles with two goals, while fellow sophomore Maria Tsakalakos scored the other goal. 

Things got off to a fast start, as Georgia Military took an early lead, scoring in the 7th minute of the game. The Eagles would answer back in the 14th minute when freshman Hanna Florence crossed the ball into Okeh, who netted her first goal of the season. The Bulldogs would take a 2-1 lead into the break after scoring in the 38th minute. 

In the second half, Georgia Military would build on their lead with a goal in the 52nd minute. The Eagles would answer back 38 seconds later after drawing a foul outside the penalty box. Tsakalakos would convert on the free kick to score her first of the year. Down 3-2, the Eagles would tie the game in the 55th minute when Tsakalakos sent a through ball to Okeh, who converted her second goal of the game. However, the Bulldogs delivered a flurry of goals in the final 26 minutes of action, eventually winning 7-3.

The Eagles will hit the road on Tuesday, September 13th, as they play crosstown foe Oglethorpe University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM in Atlanta, GA.
