Eagles Fall 6 to 1 in First Contest of Season

The Emory Oxford College Women's Soccer team fall in their first contest of the season Friday night by a score of 6 to 1 to Georgia Military College. GMC improved to 2 and 0 on the season.

The team worked extremely hard and competed well in the Georgia heat with only one sub.

The Eagles challenged GMC in the first half scoring a beautiful long distance goal by Freshman Sarah Canty on a free kick. This goal got the Eagles off to a quick 1 to 0 lead but trailed at halftime by a score of 3 to 1.

Maxine Hakim in goal had 27 saves and played an amazing game. Hannah Florence played strong in the midfield and had the teams only other shot on goal.

 "This was a great first game, we competed well and gave it our all.  As a team we are eager to get back on the pitch and play our next game," commented interim head coach Ashlynne Bass.

The Eagles next contest is Wednesday, August 30 vs Gordon College at home at the friendly confines of Bivings Field.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
