Meridian, MS - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season in a hard-fought match against Meridian Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles won 5-4 and now improve to 1-2 for the season. 

In singles play, sophomore Cody Lu defeated her opponent in straight sets 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 to claim her second win in first singles. In fourth singles, sophomore June Woo picked up her first win in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Fellow sophomore Jenna Shin claimed fifth singles 6-3, 7-5 to help the Eagles clinch the match. Oxford picked up two default wins, one in third doubles and the other in sixth singles. 

"We played a strong opponent today and our team played well to get this win," stated Pernilla Hardin, Head Coach. "We will get some rest and face another tough opponent tomorrow morning."

The Eagles will face East Central Community College Sunday (Sept. 15) starting at 9:00AM.
