Women's Tennis Defeats Piedmont, 9-0

The Emory Oxford women's tennis team defeated the Lions of Piedmont University in dominating fashion, winning 9-0. This is the first of two matchups between the two teams this spring. 

In doubles play, sophomore Laura Crosby and freshman Imaan Hasham picked up the first win on court three, with an 8-1 victory. Freshman duo Allie Lucky and Lily McCain defeated their opponents on court one, 8-2. Finally, freshmen Emily Freestone and Mayuri Charan claimed the sweep in doubles on court two with a hard-fought 8-7 win. 

The Eagles continued their dominance in singles play, winning five out of six matches in straight sets. Hasham got things started with a 6-1, 6-0 victory on court six. McCain picked up a court three victory, 6-0, 6-0. On court two, Crosby defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-0 as well. Lucky, who was competing on court five, won 6-1, 6-4 and Freestone picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win on court one. Charan picked up another hard-fought victory on court four, winning 6-2, 4-6 (1-0). 

The Eagles will play Piedmont again on Friday, March 18th, in Demorest, GA. Matches will begin at 3:00 PM.
