Tennis Competes in ITA Southeast Regional Championships

The Emory Oxford men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Tifton, GA, for the ITA Juco Southeast Regional Championships. The event featured players from all levels of the NCJAA. The Eagles brought four players from each team to compete in the three-day event. 

For the women's team, sophomores Mayuri CharanEmily Freestone and Lily McCain and freshman Grace Wang represented the Eagles. In singles play, Charan and Wang both made it to the Round of 16 in the main draw. McCain and Freestone competed against each other in the finals for the consolation draw, with McCain winning 6-1, 6-1. 

For the men's team, sophomore Tyler Yamato-ChangZachary Ravel, and Jahaan Sachdeva and freshman Vendanth Ramachandra competed for the Eagles. Ravel ended up withdrawing from the tournament due to injury. Yamato-Chang made it to the semi-finals in the singles consolation draw. 

"This was a good experience for both teams as we played tough competition," commented Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. 

The Eagles will each look to win their seventh-consecutive National Title this year. The women will have their opportunity in November as the National Tournament will be hosted at Peachtree City, GA. The men's tournament will be in May.
