Emory Oxford Uses Strong Second-Half to Defeat Florida College

Temple Terrace, FL – After losing their first home game of the season, the Emory Oxford Men's Basketball team bounced back with an 83-60 win against Florida College Reserve Squad. The Eagles improve to 12-4 for the season and matching their win total from last year.

The Eagles had four players in double figures and were led by sophomore captain Zane Patel who produced another double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow captain Ryan Kwong had a near double-double with 12 points and 9 assists. Freshman JJ Halaby had a strong showing with 18 points and 5 assists. Classmate Jermon Clark had an impressive night scoring 14 points while grabbing a season-high 22 rebounds.

Clark's 18 defensive rebound set a new Emory Oxford record for most in a single game while his 22 total rebounds ties for second in school history.

Only up by 3 going into the second half, the Eagles locked in on defense and held the Falcons to 22 second-half points. Led by Patel, who scored 15 second-half points, the Eagles were able to build on their lead and put away the Falcons mid-way in the second half.

"We played a much better in the second-half, especially on the defensive end," commented Roderick Stubbs, Head Coach. "The guys came out of halftime with a mind to defend and only allow one shot at the basket."

The Eagles will complete their Florida trip with a match-up against Pasco-Hernando State College on Friday, January 11th. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
