Men’s Basketball Wins Second-Straight in High Scoring Affair

Oxford, GA – Led by freshmen Jack Polzin and Shane McCravy, who each had 31 points, the Emory Oxford men's basketball team defeated Emmanuel College Reserve Squad 122-115. The Eagles now improve to 2-2 for the season. 

The Eagles had four players score in double figures, with Polzin and McCravy leading the way. Polzin was effective from the field going 11-for-18, including 3-for-6 from behind the arc. McCravy went 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 14-for-14 from the free-throw line. Freshman Thomas Powell scored 17 points while shooting 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Classmate Myles Johnson was the fourth Eagle in double figures with 13 points. McCravy produced another double-double, with a team-high 15 rebounds. Polzin and Johnson lead Oxford in assists with 5 apiece.

Although turning the ball over 39 times, the Eagles had a great shooting night going 39-for-48 from the charity stripe. Oxford also had an outstanding rebound margin, outrebounding Emmanuel 65 to 34. Oxford set school records in most free-throws made (39) in a game and most defensive rebounds (52) in a game. 

"It was not how we expected to win, but we will take it," commented Roderick Stubbs, Head Coach. "The guys kept fighting and they came out with a huge win at home."

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday (November 13) versus LaGrange College Reserve Squad. Tipoff is at 7:30PM.
