Men’s Basketball Ends Two-Game Skid

Oxford, GA – Freshman Shane McCravy scored 31 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Eagles defeat Bryan College Reserve Squad 90-72. The Eagles are now 10-10 for the season.

McCravy led four double-figure Oxford scorers and produced his 10th double-double of the season. Freshman Thomas Powell scored 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Fellow freshman Arturo Varela had a strong second-half scoring 14 of his 18 points in the second-half while grabbing 9 rebounds. Classmate Jack Polzin scored 15 points and led the Eagles with 6 assists.

The Eagles got to the free-throw line 38 times and converted on 31 attempts, while Bryan was only 14-of-23. A big emphasis for the Eagles this game was to limit transition points only giving up 13 against the Lions. Oxford also had a strong rebound margin, outrebounding the Bryan 49 to 39.

"This was a good win team win for heading in Saturday's conference game," said Roderick Stubbs, Head Coach.

The Eagles will have their fifth conference game of the year on Saturday (Feb. 1) against Johnston Community College. This will be Oxford's Alumni Appreciation Game and tipoff is at 2:00PM.
