Eagles Win Third-Straight on The Road

LaGrange, GA - The Eagles traveled to LaGrange College to take on the Panthers' Reserve Squad. Oxford won its third-straight game in a 78-70 decision improving to 12-10 for the season. 

Freshman Arturo Varela led four Eagles in double figures with 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting inlcuding 2 made threes on four attempts. Classmate Shane McCravy had his tenth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow freshman Jack Polzin scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. Sophomore Aaron Gerber produced 10 points and 9 rebounds, while making 2-of-4 three-pointers. 

The Eagles used a strong first-half to build a 12-point lead before the break. During that first-half, the Eagles made 6 threes on 11 attempts and shot a season-high 44% (8-of-18) from behind the arc. On the other hand, the Panthers were held to 38% from the field including 18% from three. 

"It was great for us to get this win on the road against tough competition in LaGrange," said Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. "They gave us a fight till the end."

The Eagles return to action Saturday (Feb. 8) against the No. 1-ranked Sandhills Community College. Tipoff is at 3:00PM.
