Men's Basketball Ends Season Against Central Carolina

Pinehurst, NC – In the semifinal of the Regional Tournament, the Emory Oxford men's basketball team was defeated by Central Carolina Community College 98-89. The Cougars will advance to the championship game to face No. 1-ranked Sandhills Community College.

In the first-half, Central Carolina jumped out to an early 20-5 lead within the first 5 minutes, which proved too difficult for the Eagles to overcome. At times, Oxford was able to cut into the lead but could not overcome the early 15-point deficit. Central Carolina held this lead for the whole game. The Cougars had a huge advantage from behind the three-point line shooting 13-of-33, while the Eagles only made seven out of 22 attempts.

For the game, Oxford had three players in double figures and were led by Shane McCravy who produced his 15th double-double of the season scoring 29 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Jack Polzin made 6 of the Eagles' seven threes on his way to 27 points and a team-high 6 assists. Arturo Varela had a productive night with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.

"Overall, the coaches and I are proud of our guys for how they competed. We faced tons of adversity throughout the season, but our guys hung in there and continued to improve throughout the season," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs.

The Eagles finished the season 13-13.
