Emory Oxford Men’s Soccer Team Assist in Raising Money For A Great Cause

Roswell, GA - The Emory Oxford men's soccer team participated in the "4V4 Soccer Friends Matter" tournament in which the team volunteered to officiate the matches. The event raised funds for kids in foster care and adopted from foster care in order to give them the opportunity to play soccer and make friends within their local community soccer programs and provide the necessary equipment. The tournament directors Aly Wade and Christine Witzel created and prepared the event in 3 short months.

The event was held on Saturday (Feb. 9) at the Roswell Soccer Club. There were over 25 teams in attendance from the Atlanta and Oxford areas, including the Emory Oxford men's soccer team. The charity raised over $5000, which all went to one charity. The beneficiary was Promise 686, and their mission is to provide for vulnerable children by providing financial assistance, community support, and adoptive and foster care related education.

"Our student-athletes were instrumental in making this event a success," stated Head Coach Greg Moss-Brown. "It didn't take much to get them going and they were eager to help for such a great cause. The event was wonderful and all the individuals involved were a tremendous help."

One of the tournament directors, Christine Witzel commented, " The Oxford players were just the energy we needed at the event. It turned out to be a better event than I envisioned."
