Men's Tennis Continues Win Streak

Oxford, GA - The Emory Oxford men's tennis team faced off against Gadsden State Community College on a windy Friday afternoon, defeating the Cardinals 7-2. The Eagles improve to 5-3 for the season. 

The Eagles picked up two wins in doubles matches with sophomore Kavi Jain and freshman Colin Xu easily winning first singles 8-1. Freshamn duo Michael Ru and Jeremy Cai fell just short in second doubles losing 8-9 (10-9). In third doubles, sophmore Kevin Yan and freshman Ben Archer picked up the win defeating their opponents 8-2. 

Singles play was dominated by the Eagles as they won 5 matches out of six. All five wins came in straight sets. Jain defeated Alex Ivey 6-1, 6-0 to claim first singles. Gadsden's Kyle Hale fell to Yan 6-3, 6-0 in second singles. In third singles, Ru defeated Justin Blake 6-4, 6-2. Xu picked up a win in fourth singles overcoming Adam Vitolo 6-3, 6-0. To round out the day, Archer claimed a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kyle Parker in sixth singles.

"Our boys competed very well today to pick up this win," commented Head Coach Pernilla Hardin. 

The Eagles will have a two-week hiatus as they will return on Friday, March 20th against Morehouse College. Matches will begin at 4:00PM.
