Men's cross country finishes fifth at nationals

Huntsville, AL - The Emory Oxford men's cross country team made school history at the NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships held at John Hunt Park.

The Eagles finished fifth overall, which is the highest finish for the team at nationals. The previous highest finish was 10th place in 2017 and 2018. In addition to fifth place, freshman Oliver Campbell and sophomore Virat Vishwanadhula were named All-Americans. Campbell (27:03.40) and Vishwanadhula (27:14.70) finished eighth and 11th, respectively, and both set personal records at the meet.

Sophomore Timothy Park finished 22nd overall (28:12.70) in a field with more than 120 runners. Freshman Joseph Woloszyn (30:16.10) finished 53rd overall in his first collegiate trip to nationals.

Also competing for Emory Oxford were freshmen Paul Goblirsch, Fletcher Martin and Misha Filippovsky.

The men won regionals back in October, where Vishwandhula was named Runner of the Year. Tony O'Kelley was named Coach of the Year.

For the women, sophomore Madeleine Lepley finished 20th overall with a time of 21:41.90. Sophomore Noemi Felipe also ran for the Eagles.
