Sevierville, TN - The Emory Oxford men's and women's tennis team traveled to Sevierville, outside of Knoxville, to compete in the Johnson University Invitational. 

After weather and other factors cancelled earlier scheduled competitions this spring, the men's golf team competed in their first tournament of the spring season. Freshman Ben Wiseman recorded the low round of the tournament posting a 77 on the 2nd day of competition which included firing 1-under par on his final nine holes of the tournament. Wiseman's two-day total (169) led the Eagle's to a 6th place finish overall. Freshman Nick Paschetto (176), sophomore Alex Grainger (180) and freshman Stewart Zelnick (189) where the other competitors for the Eagles during the two-day event.

"The course was a difficult one to play going in without a practice round so the players had to go around the course slightly blind on Saturday and rain and cooler temperatures on Sunday made the course play difficult," state Head Coach Molly McNamara. "But the team worked through these conditions and they gained valuable experience."

This tournament marked the final competition for the women's golf team. Freshman Bridget Barnsley lead the women's side shooting a two-day total of 188. Barnsley's two-day total placed her 2nd in the event. Completing the team scoring for the women's team where freshmen Katie Dorton, Natalie Mason, and Mildred Ouyang. 

"The four women who competed where first-year students so getting tournament experience is an important part of the growing process for the team. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this group of women," stated McNamara. 

The men return to competition Friday April 12th and Saturday April 13th as they particpate in The Competitor's Cup, which is a four-team match play event hosted by Bob Jones University at Green Valley Country Club in South Carolina.
