Women's Tennis Wins in Mississippi

Women's Tennis Wins in Mississippi

On a hot and humid afternoon, the Emory Oxford women's tennis team competed against Hinds Community College and Meridian Community College in Mississippi. Due to Hinds and Meridian only having four players on their teams, they played as one team against Emory Oxford. The Eagles ended up winning 6-3.

In doubles play, Emory Oxford won two out of the three matches. Sophomore duo Lily McCain and Allie Lucky defeated their opponents 8-1 to claim second doubles. On the ensuing court, sophomore Mayuri Charan and freshman Livia He dominated 8-0.

In singles play, the Eagles won four out of the six matches, all in straight sets. McCain picked up her second win of the day on court three, winning 6-0, 6-0. Charan also won her second match on court four, 6-0, 6-1. The Eagles picked up victories on courts five and six, with Lucky (6-0, 6-1) and He (6-0, 6-0) also picking up their second wins. On court two, sophomore Emily Freestone competed in a hard-fought battle that went to three sets and a tiebreaker.

The Eagles will wrap up their trip tomorrow, September 11th, against Jones College. Matches are set to begin at 9:00 AM CT.
