Cross Country Update: JSU Foothills Cross Country Invitational

RESULTS

Oxford, AL - The Emory Oxford men's and women's cross country teams competed in the JSU Foothills Cross Country Invitational held in Alabama. The men's 8k race had a total of 211 runners from Division I, Division II, Division III, and NJCAA institutions.. The women's 5k race had a total of 179 runners across all levels. 

The top finisher for the men's team was freshman Nathaniel Lechtzine who finished the race in 30:57. The second best finisher for the Eagles was fellow freshman Neel Tummala who finished in 31:36. 

On the women's side, sophomore Katie Dorton continued her brilliance finishing in the top 25 with a time of 19:41. Dorton beat her time from last week, in which she ran the 5k in 20:14. The next finisher for the Eagles was freshman Sophia Tufariello who ran the race in 23:46, topping her time from last week. 

"There was some very tough competition in this race on both sides and our runners did their best," stated Head Coach Ella O'Kelley. "Katie has been terrific for us as continues to run her best times." 

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday (October 12) when they run in the Georgia Military College Invitational.
