Women’s Cross Country Goes Back-To-Back in GCAA Championships

The top-ranked Emory Oxford women's cross country team dominated in the 2022 GCAA Regional Championship, claiming their second-straight trophy. The women's 5k race was held at Council Farms in Milledgeville, GA. 

The women claimed the top six spots and were led by sophomore Emily Wilhelm, who ran a 20:32. Right behind her were sophomores Joyce Zhang (21:10) and Sophia Lee (21:12). In fourth place, freshman Halle Wulff finished with a time of 21:36. To round out the top five, classmate Nancy Puente ran a 22:02. 

Also finishing for the Eagles was freshman Madeleine Lepley, who finished in sixth place with a time of 22:09. Sophomore Urvi Vallapareddy finished just outside the top 10 with a time of 25:00. 

Wilhelm, Zhang, Lee, Wulff and Puente were named to the All-Conference team, with Wilhelm awarded Women's Runner of the Year. Coach Ella O'Kelley was honored as Coach of the Year for the Conference. 

Up next, the Eagles will be competing in the Newberry Invitational in South Carolina. The race will be this Saturday, October 22nd.
