Jonathan Simmons
Title: Assistant Volunteer Coach

Jonathan Simmons has joined the Emory Oxford as the men’s assistant volunteer coach. He has playing experience at the college level, an aptitude for studying and breaking down game film, and prides himself in his ability and experience in training players while helping them develop their skills, especially when it comes to their shooting ability. As a freshman in college, Simmons was ranked third in his conference for shooting 45% from the three-point line and 23rd in the nation, while making 62 three-point goals on the year. He broke school shooting records during his time at Ave Maria University while also being nominated as the NAIA freshman of the year.

After a pause in his collegiate career due to the effects of the 2020 pandemic, Simmons continued his playing career at Florida Memorial University, where his team won a Conference Championship in the NAIA Sun Conference. He is now pursuing playing basketball professionally overseas and is helping the players and coaching staff of Emory Oxford in the meantime. His main goal is to help players develop their skills so they can continue their basketball careers after leaving Oxford if they choose to do so.

Since he is not far removed from college basketball, Simmons can relate to the players in a unique way. He will be able to use his knowledge from his recent experiences to help teach the players what type of hard work and diligence it takes to reach their full potential.
