Oxford Wins at Home Versus New Rock

HIGHLIGHTS

Oxford, GA – The Men's Basketball team used a 26-5 run in the second half to defeat New Rock Prep Academy 80-73. With this win, the Eagles improve to 6-2 for the season.

Freshman JJ Halaby was one of four Eagles who scored in double figures. He had 25 points while going 8 of 8 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Ryan Kwong scored 16 points and made 4 three-pointers. Fellow sophomore Eric Lee had 14 points and 3 steals. Freshman Jermon Clark produced another double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Sophomore Zane Patel who is coming back from an injury scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in limited playing time.

In the first half, the Eagles were able to get ahead early with a 20-9 lead by scoring the ball around the rim. New Rock was able to shoot their way back into the game and went into halftime down by 9.

In the second half, the Eagles used a 26-5 run to give them a 24-point lead midway in the second half. However, the Eagles made too many mistakes and New Rock was able to capitalize and brought the deficit back down to 3. Fortunately, Oxford picked up their play with Halaby and Lee making plays towards the end to secure the victory.

The Eagles will return to action Monday, November 19th against Georgia Gwinnett College. Tipoff is at 7:30 PM and will take place at Williams Gym.
