Emory Oxford Men’s Basketball Defeats Trinity College

Oxford, GA – Overcoming a slow start, the Emory Oxford men's basketball team battled back to defeat the Tigers of Trinity College. With this 85-62 victory, the Eagles improve to 16-6 for season, while the Tigers fall to 2-11.

Frist-year JJ Halaby lead the Eagles with 26 points and ended the game ten-of-18 from the floor. Sophomore captain Ryan Kwong scored 24 points, while shooting six-of-11 from behind the arc. First-year Jermon Clark produced a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing a team-high 19 rebounds. Halaby lead the Eagles with 7 assists.

The Tigers jumped out early grabbing a 15-6 lead over Oxford. The Eagles clawed their way back into the game and used a 15-5 run to regain the lead midway into the first-half. After that, the Eagles did not look back as they built their lead up to 25 points. The Eagles held Trinity to 38% from the field, while shooting nearly 47%. Oxford took care of the ball very well turning it over 11 times, which lead to only 3 transition points for the Tigers.

"The guys competed extremely well today," stated Roderick Stubbs, Head Coach. "They overcame their slow start and was able to come out with this victory." 

The Eagles return to action on Monday, February 4th against LaGrange College Reserve Squad. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
