Men's basketball wins first game of season, defeats Emmanuel JV 77-73

Franklin Springs, Ga. - The Emory Oxford men's basketball team won for the first time this season after defeating home team Emmanuel University JV 77-73.

With four minutes left in the first half, the Eagles found themselves down by 14 points. First-year Leo Etah scored 11 points within the four minutes to erase most of Emmanuel's lead. Emory Oxford only trailed by one (34-33) at the half.

The Eagles were able to build a lead and led 51-43 with 12 minutes remaining in the second half. Less than five minutes later, after struggling to score and with Emmanuel hitting two three-pointers, Emory Oxford was down again. 

After an Eagles timeout with less than six minutes left, Emory Oxford was able to pull together and go home with a win.

Etah led the Eagles with 23 points. He also had nine rebounds. First-year Adeniyi Ogunlana had 19 points and 16 rebounds. First-year Jason Kim scored 14 points.

The Eagles are now 1-1 on the season. The team plays its first home game on Monday, Nov. 11 against Piedmont University JV. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
