Oxford College of Emory University Athletic Director, Roderick Stubbs, has announced that Ariel Walsh will be the next head coach of the men's and women's golf program.
Walsh joins Oxford College of Emory University after spending a year as the assistant golf coach at Modesto Junior College. During her time at Modesto, Walsh led practice and set up drills for the students and helped them fine tune their mechanics. In addition, Walsh coached at First Tee, a nonprofit for youth golfers. She taught children how to play golf properly and included activities to keep the golfers interested in the sport.
"I'm excited to become the head men's and women's golf coach," Walsh said. "I can't wait to get started and work with the students on the course and in the classroom."
In addition to working at Modesto, Walsh worked as a head college volleyball coach and head high school softball coach and has taught courses at the college level. She spent two years playing junior college golf, one year playing junior college tennis, and two years of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics tennis.
Walsh is from Modesto, California. She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Ottawa University in Surprise, Arizona, and her master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Outside of work, Walsh likes to keep active and try new places.
"We're excited to welcome Ariel to Oxford," Stubbs said. "Her experience in collegiate sports and as an instructor will be beneficial to the college, for our students and the golf program."
