Men's Soccer Suffers First Lost of The Season

Sumter, SC - In their second straight road trip, the Emory Oxford men's soccer team fell to the Fire Ants of USC Sumter 3-2. The Eagles drop their first game of the season and are 7-1-1 for the year. The Fire Ants improve to 6-6.

The Eagles dominated the first half of play as they went up 2-0 within the first 30 minutes. The first goal was scored by freshman Ryan Rohling, which is his fifth goal of the season. The goal was assisted by sophomore captain Jack Moynihan. The Eagle's second goal came in the 27th minute as sophmore Brandon Simon found freshman teammate Jason Im who cleanly netted his sixth goal of the season. Oxford looked strong as they went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Unfortunately, it did not end well for the Eagles. The Fire Ants were able to score two goals in the 66th and 69th minute, which tied the game 2-2. In the final minutes, as the match look like it would end in a draw, the Fire Ants were able to find the net one last time to gain the 3-2 advantage and win the game.

"I am proud of how our team battled today and even though we did not get the result we wanted, we still played well," stated Head Coach Moss-Brown. "This is just another opportunity to get better."

The Eagles go back on the road next weekend (October 12-13) as they travel to Mississippi to play Holmes Community College (Oct. 12) and East Central Community College (Oct. 15).
