Bazata finishes Tied-6th in Bruins Golf Classic

Greenville, SC - Bob Jones University hosted their Bruins Golf Classic at Legacy Pines Golf Club in South Carolina on Friday and Saturday. The women's golf team took freshman Julia Bazata as their only competitor in this tournament. Individually, she finished tied for 6th-place among 23 women's golfers. 

On the first day of the competition, Bazata opened with an 86 (+15), putting her in 7th place. Jessica Edwards of Spartanburg Methodist College took the first-round lead with an opening 79 (+8). On the final day, Bazata again shot and 86 (+15), posting a two-day score of 172. She was tied with Emily Smelcer (Emory & Henry), Taylor Strickland (Spartanburg Methodist) and Taylor Derr (Bryan College). Edwards shot an 80, posting a two-day score of 159, securing a 1st-place victory individually. 

"This was a good opening tournament for Julia and she was very consistent both days," commented Head Coach Molly McNamara. "I believe she will only continue to get better and have a good season this year."

The Eagles will be back in action on October 24th-26th in Rome, GA.
