Women’s Soccer Bounces Back to Pick Up Second Win of the Season

Oxford, GA - The Emory Oxford women's soccer team handed the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College their first loss of the season with a 2-1 victory. With this win, the Eagles improve to 2-1 for the season. The Pioneers drop to 2-1-1.

Freshman Ellen Harnisch was the decisive factor for the Eagles socring both goals. In the 23rd minute, Harnisch was able to break free from the defense and scored her second goal of the season. Just before halftime, Spartanburg's Beyonce Williams was able to find the back of the net and tie the game 1-1.

In the 54th minute, Harnisch received a pass from sophomore captain Hannah Wolfson and was able to find the back of the net for the game deciding goal.

The Eagles had a 13-8 advantage on shots on goal and freshman goalkeeper Brianna Chun came up with 7 saves.

"This was a great bounce back win for us tonight," stated Interim Head Coach Harry Kustick. "Hopefully, we can build on this and continue to get better."

The Eagles will return to action on September 12th (Thurs.) to face Georgia Military JV. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45PM.
