Women's Soccer Falls to the Hawks, 4-1

Women's Soccer Falls to the Hawks, 4-1

The Emory Oxford women's soccer team opened up their regular season against the Hawks of South Georgia State College. The Eagles fell 4-1 in their home opener.

Things started slowly with neither team scoring until the 25th minute when Clara Tzitas of South Georgia netted her second goal of the year off a free kick. The rest of the half saw little action as the Hawks went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Taylor Underwood got hot and recorded a hat trick for the Hawks. She scored her first goal in the 47th minute and the following two goals came in the 60th and 63rd minutes. The Eagles fell 4-0 before finally finding the back of the net in the 65th minute when sophomore Maria Tsakalakos crossed the ball to freshman Hanna Florence who scored.

Sophomore goalie Ayaka Smart finished the game with four saves.

Up next, the Eagles will host Georgia Military College on Friday night. Kickoff from Bivings Field is set for 6:45 PM.
