
Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford women's soccer team was defeated by the visiting Georgia Military College 5-3.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the first half. First-year Renie Harris scored an unassisted goal with less than 10 minutes in the half to cut GMC's lead.
With the Bulldogs up by four and less than 10 minutes left in the second half, Emory Oxford scored twice to make the game closer. The GMC goalie stopped a free kick by sophomore Sarah Speed, but sophomore Elena Charria scored on the rebound. Five minutes later, first-year Ella Sund scored her first collegiate goal as she kicked the ball over the goalie's head for Emory Oxford's third goal of the game. Sophomore Helena Bergman assisted on the goal.
Sophomore goalie Margaux Davis made 11 saves for the Eagles.
Emory Oxford will next play Andrew College at home on Saturday, Oct. 19 for Sophomore Day. Game time is 2 p.m. with the sophomores being honored at halftime.
