Women's tennis wins ninth national championship

Chatanooga, Tenn. - The Oxford College of Emory University's women's tennis team won their ninth championship and eighth in a row after scoring 35 points at the 2024 NJCAA Division III Women's National Championship.

The women claimed five out of six flights in singles and all three flights in doubles. Freshmen Lily Liu and Olha Los dominated in singles and doubles for the Eagles. Liu defeated opponent Keely Legnard from Hudson Valley Community College in flight 1 (6-0, 6-0) while Los beat Camden County College's Bryn Kelleher 6-0, 6-0. The two teamed up in doubles and won 6-0, 6-0 against Camden County.

Freshman Marie Chastel won flight three with a score of 6-2, 6-0 over Ocean County College's Dayana Auquilla. Chastel teamed up with sophomore Yolanda Yang in doubles to win 6-1, 6-4. Yang was defeated in her singles match. Sophomore Shankari Theivanayagam (6-1, 6-1) and freshman Mina Chen (6-4, 6-1) both won their flights. Chen and Theivanayagam were partners in flight 3 and won 6-1, 6-2.
