Oxford, Ga. - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team easily defeated the visiting NCAA Division III Piedmont University 8-1.
Sophomore duo Olha Los and Lily Liu won their doubles match 8-5, while also winning their singles matches later in the day. Los won her match 6-4, 6-3, while Liu won 6-0, 6-3.
In their first collegiate tennis home match, first-years Ellen Liu and Chloe Macaluso defeated their opponents 8-5 in doubles. Liu won her singles match 6-1, 6-3, while Macaluso won 6-3, 6-1.
In third doubles, first-years Samantha Goldberg and Arba Zhao won in their match by a score of 8-3. Goldberg went on to win her singles match 6-3, 6-0.
On the men's side, sophomore Ben Xi won for the Eagles. His match went into a third set tiebreak.
Both teams will travel to Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 19 to play Tuskegee University in the morning and Coastal Alabama South in the afternoon.
