Women's tennis dominates in Alabama

Jasper, AL - The Emory Oxford women's tennis team had a successful trip to Alabama. The Eagles defeated Coastal Alabama Community College South 6-3, then beat Bevill State Community College 9-0 the next day.

Against Coastal Alabama, sophomores Lily Liu and Olha Los teamed up in first doubles and won 7-5, 7-5. In singles, Lily Liu won 4-6, 6-1 (10-4), while Los defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Marie Chastel and first-year Jennifer He also won in doubles and singles. The two partnered up in doubles and won 3-5, 7-6 (10-7). Chastel took her singles match 6-1, 6-3, while He defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-1. First years Chloe Macaluso and Ellen Liu lost a close match in the third set in doubles (6-7, 6-7, 4-5). 

Against Bevill, Macaluso and Ellen Liu dominated in doubles (8-0) and in singles. Macaluso won 6-0, 6-1 and Ellen Liu defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1. The remaining matches went as followed:

In doubles, Lily Liu and Los 8-4, Chastel and He 8-3. In singles, Lily Liu (6-2, 6-2), Los (6-2, 6-3), Chastel (6-3, 6-1), and He (6-0, 6-0).

On the men's side, sophomores Daniel Bernard (6-1, 6-1) and Elliot Li (6-3, 6-0) won singles matches against Bevill.

Both teams are finished with the fall season and will start preparing for the spring and the chance at a ninth straight national championship.
